The Pakistan Super League is set for an expanded 12th edition, with the Pakistan Cricket Board confirming that HBL PSL 12 will be played from March 18 to May 2, 2027.
The tournament will retain its eight-team format, following the expansion introduced during the 2026 season. According to the PCB, the upcoming edition will feature 44 matches over 46 days, comprising 40 league fixtures and four playoff matches.
A major change for 2027 will be the league’s geographic reach. For the first time, matches are planned across five to six venues, allowing more cities to host Pakistan’s leading T20 competition. The PCB says the move is intended to bring the tournament closer to supporters across the country.
Preparations for squad building have already begun. The direct-signing window opened on October 23 and will remain available until November 23. Each franchise can directly sign one marquee player who did not participate in PSL 10 or PSL 11. The player auction is scheduled for January 23, 2027.
The PCB is also connecting the domestic T20 structure more closely with the PSL. The National T20 Gold and National T20 Silver competitions will serve as key talent-identification platforms ahead of the auction, creating a clearer pathway for emerging domestic players to reach franchise cricket.
The 2027 season follows a landmark 2026 campaign that introduced eight teams and replaced the traditional draft with an auction system. With the next season now taking shape, franchises will enter the coming months focused on signings, retentions, trades and auction strategy.
